Vijayawada:The Capital Region Development Authority has sanctioned Rs 904 crore under the critical infra and investment plan for strengthening basic amenities like drains, water supply and critical infrastructure in 29 villages across the capital region.
Chairing the 51st meeting of CRDA here on Monday, chief minister Chandrababu Naidu has directed the officials to come up with an iconic design for the bridge across the Krishna river.
He said innovative designs should be explored by drawing inspiration from the traditional Kuchipudi dance form.
The CRDA meeting has approved nine key proposals including creation of a special purpose vehicle for taking up various prestigious projects in the capital region. These would include a greenfield airport, an NTR statue, a sports city, smart industries, riverfront development, inner ring road and a rope way.
Naidu asked the officials to take up all construction works in the capital region on a war-footing and upload the details of works online so as to intimate the public about the progress of the developmental works. He said the capital city should take a visible shape within the present construction season itself.
With regard to the formation of an SPV, the chief minister said the projects handled by it like the sports city must be having international standards. There must be a seamless integration of the riverfront, rope way and inner ring road projects.
He called for the setting up only pollution- free industries and stressed the need to encourage investments in the capital region. He said a bio-engineering university would come up in Amaravati soon.
ON development of the capital region, he said all projects should be planned in such a way that they would generate economic activity while boosting development. “We must take advantage of the unique geographic advantages of Amaravati while taking up construction works,” he said.
The CRDA meeting has agreed for removal of the term ‘assigned’ from the ownership certificates issued under Land Pooling Scheme, for establishment of a sewerage treatment plant at a cost of ` 411 crore, as also the setting up of a water distribution centre at `376.6 crore and allotment of an additional 100 acres each to the VIT and SRM universities.
The authority also approved land pooling for the gems and jewellery park as part of ‘Gold Cluster’ project in Mangalagiri. A 78-acre land at Atmakur near Mangalagiri will be assembled under LPS, as per another decision. By another decision, it approved special LPS norms for the cluster.
The CM asked the officials to establish a dedicated ecosystem around the cluster. CRDA officials informed the CM that the project was expected to attract an investment of ` 5,000 crore with a job potential for 20,000 persons.
Municipal administration minister Narayana, chief secretary Vijayanand and senior officials from the municipal administration, CRDA and other departments were present.
