Mac DeMarco seems to get more beloved every time the bedroom rock pioneer decides to emerge with a new record, and 2025 is no different. On August 22, the modern rock icon released his sixth studio album, Guitara raw portrait of where DeMarco stands with himself and his place in the world —a collection of wistful balladry that cemented what most already knew: the artist still has room for growth. Staying true to his road-dog spirit, DeMarco wasted no time kicking off the tour to support Guitarand Los Angeles is getting the first taste. DeMarco took over the legendary Greek Theater in Los Angeles for the first of his three-night stay and the start of an extensive world tour.
Fans were treated to a career-spanning setlist for the start of DeMarco’s massive tour. The artist happily bounced around his discography, going as far back as 2012’s Rock and Roll Night Cluband obviously placing a welcome spotlight on Guitar. Of the 23 songs performed, eight came from DeMarco’s latest LP. The artist pulled out tracks like “Shining,” “Holy,” and “Phantom,” along with some B-sides from the project, like “Rock and Roll.” DeMarco delighted fans with hits like “Heart to Heart” from 2019’s Here Comes The Cowboythe title track from his modern classic Salad Daysand “Freaking Out the Neighborhood” from 2. DeMarco also touched on songs from albums like This Old Dog and even performed a few cuts from his monstrous collection of demos and drafts, 2023’s One Wayne G.
With night one in the books, DeMarco faces a long and exciting road ahead. DeMarco will do two more nights at The Greek before heading to the East Coast for shows in Philadelphia, Baltimore, and New York City, which include two nights at the illustrious Radio City Music Hall. DeMarco will bounce around North America until late October, when he heads overseas for shows in Amsterdam, Paris, Oslo, and Berlin.
