Maruti Suzuki India on Monday reported total sales of 180,683 units in August 2025, marking a marginal drop from 181,782 units in August 2024. Of the total, domestic sales declined 7 per cent to 144,145 units in August 2025, as against 155,779 units in the same period last year.
The performance was fuelled by strong export momentum and sustained demand in the compact and utility vehicle segments, the company said in a statement.
Sales to other OEMs accounted for 10,095 units, while exports saw a sharp jump to 36,538 units, up from 26,003 units a year ago.
The compact car segment — comprising Baleno, WagonR, Swift, Dzire, Ignis, Celerio — reported a sales of 59,597 units in August compared to 58,051 units last year. However, entry-level mini car sales (Alto, S-Presso) continued their decline, dropping to 6,853 units from 10,648 units in August 2024.
Utility vehicles, including Brezza, Grand Vitara, Ertiga and Fronx, contributed 54,043 units, showing a 10 per cent drop from 62,684 units last year in the same period, while van sales (Eeco) also dropped marginally to 10,785 units.
