
Students taking part in an awareness marathon held to create awareness on HIV and prevention of AIDS in Erode in Tamil Nadu on Tuesday.

A district-level marathon to spread awareness about HIV/AIDS was conducted here on Tuesday (September 2, 2025).
Organised by the District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit, the event was flagged off by Collector S. Kandasamy, at the Collectorate. The marathon concluded at the Government Higher Secondary School, Thindal, with over 300 students from various colleges participating.
Ahead of the event, the Collector administered a pledge to officials and students, committing to spread awareness on HIV/AIDS, encourage voluntary testing, support people living with HIV, and work towards creating an infection-free community. He also inaugurated an AIDS awareness exhibition and launched a sticker campaign by affixing awareness stickers on vehicles.
The event was attended by S. Santha Kumari, Joint Director, Health and Rural Services, Gopalakrishnan, Deputy Director, Family Welfare, Ravindran, Deputy Director, Leprosy, Duraisamy, District AIDS Control Project Manager, and Maheswari, Assistant Project Manager, M. Karthikeyan, City Health Officer.
