The M340i offers stonking performance, is dynamically sound and sharp to drive.
My father is planning to replace his BMW F30 328i with a new sedan. This car will be driven by both of us and we both love to drive. He is keen to pick the 530Li, whereas I’m trying to convince him for the M340i. Please help.

Autocar India says: It is a classic head vs heart case – where the 5 Series Long Wheelbase appeals to the head, the M340i tugs at the heartstrings. The 530Li is a very comfortable sedan, with better space, as well as prestige value. For its size, it drives quite well, and if it is a luxurious touring car you’re looking for, get the 530Li. However, since you mentioned that you and your father love to drive, the M340i is for you. Performance is stonking and its six-cylinder turbo-petrol engine makes for a sporty and likeable aural experience. It is dynamically much superior and sharper to drive than the 530Li, and despite its handling prowess, the new adaptive dampers ensure that ride comfort is far more forgiving than before. Do note, ride quality is nowhere as comfortable as a 530Li, but the M340i will certainly induce a huge grin, each time you get behind the wheel. If you can’t manage to convince your father, try organising a long test drive of the M340i for him – that should be enough to seal the deal.
