Rynox’s Stealth Air Pro pants are positioned as an affordable, versatile option for riders who want lowers that can handle touring, commuting and the occasional off-road detour. I’ve been using them mainly for summer highway rides and some off-road sessions, with the odd spell in the monsoon.
Like the rest of Rynox’s line-up, sizing is true to size, and the waist/leg adjusters make fine-tuning easy. On the bike, the pants feel comfortable, with no restriction in mobility, and the armour stays in place without shifting around. With six vents in total, the pants do a good job of keeping you cool, even in peak summer heat.
That said, ventilation could have been a touch better, but given the ADV focus, it’s acceptable. While highway rides are a breeze, city commutes can run a bit on the warmer side. Riders looking for more commuter-friendly pants are better off with a more mesh-oriented pair. Meanwhile, in the rain, the pants hold up well against a little drizzle. However, the mesh vents will let water in over time, so a liner or over-pant is necessary if you expect heavy showers.
In terms of protection, you get Cerros CE Level 2 armour for both hips and knees (EN 1621-1:2012 certified), with an adjustable knee mechanism that helps tailor placement. On top of that, there’s also provision for optional tailbone armour. The base construction of the pants is a mix of 600D PU-coated polyester, 3D mesh and Cordura panels at the knees, which feels secure in terms of abrasion resistance.
While the armour seems substantial, a more slender alternative would further reduce bulk and improve mobility, although the latest slim armour doesn’t come cheap. As for storage, the cargo pockets are a highlight, extremely handy for things like a phone or wallet, and far easier to access than a regular zipper pocket. Meanwhile, the two additional zipper pockets handle smaller items and have a smaller opening in comparison. Getting in and out of the pants with boots is also straightforward thanks to extra zippers at the cuff, and I had no issues wearing these over my dual-sport boots.
At Rs 8,000, the Stealth Air Pro pants strike a good balance between price, protection and practicality. They aren’t the most heavily ventilated pants out there, but they make up for it with comfort, solid construction and useful features like cargo storage. I’d recommend them strongly to tourers and ADV riders looking for reliable, do-it-all pants that don’t break the bank.
