What to expect from ‘Monster in the Family: The Stacey Kananen Story’
According to the movie’s official synopsis, “Stacey survives a childhood of abuse and fear, only to face a shocking twist when her brother Rickie confesses to her that he killed their parents. She is further betrayed when Rickie claims she helped him commit the crimes.”
We know the story will flash back and forth to Stacey’s childhood and her case as an adult, from the trailer.
In the real case, Stacey’s abusive father went missing in 1988. Years later, the mother also disappeared, and during the investigation, Stacey’s brother Ricki confessed to killing both parents, but accused Stacey of helping him.
The innocent verdict for Stacey has some skeptics, however, after the story captured national attention.
