What engine is used in the Triumph Speed T4, and what are the power figures?
The Speed T4 utilises the same 398.15 cc engine seen in the Speed 400. While the Speed 400 puts out 40hp at 8,000rpm and a peak torque of 37.5Nm at 6,500rpm, the Speed T4 has a more relaxed tune. It produces 31hp at 7,000rpm and 36 Nm at 5,000rpm, making it 9hp and 1.5 Nm lower. However, the peak power and torque on the Speed T4 come in around 1,000rpm earlier. The Speed T4 makes for a more friendly beginner bike, thanks to the more relaxed engine character, and also delivers better fuel efficiency.
What is the fuel efficiency of the Triumph Speed T4?
The Speed T4 delivers really good mileage for a 400cc motorcycle. In our fuel efficiency tests, the bike gave us 32.15kpl in the city and 38.86kpl out on the highway. With the 13-litre fuel tank, it should deliver a riding range of around 430km.
What is the seat height and kerb weight of the Triumph Speed T4?
The Speed T4 has a seat height of 806mm, making it fairly accessible to shorter riders. Taller riders might find the motorcycle too compact. With a kerb weight of 180kg, newer riders will find it easily manageable.
What does the Speed T4 miss out on compared to the Speed 400?
Apart from the engine tuning, some other changes differentiate the motorcycles. The Speed T4 misses out on a USD fork and gets a telescopic fork at the front. It also uses a mechanical cable throttle compared to the ride-by-wire throttle on the Speed 400, because of which it also misses out on a traction control system. Finally, it gets organic brake pads as stock, opposed to the Speed 400 that gets sintered brake pads, and different tyres as well.
What colour options are available on the Speed T4?
Currently, there are five dual-tone colour options on offer including Lava Red Gloss / Pearl Metallic White, Caspian Blue / Pearl Metallic White, Baja Orange, Phantom Black / Pearl Metallic White, and Phantom Black / Storm Grey.
What is the price of the Triumph Speed T4 after GST 2.0?
The GST 2.0 rates were going to increase the pricing of all motorcycles above 350cc, but Triumph absorbed the additional costs despite the rise. And, they recently announced that prices were further slashed ahead of the festive season. The Speed T4 is now priced at Rs 1.93 lakh (ex-showroom), making it a really sweet deal.
